The original kitchen layout had a distinct lack of flow and usable storage both in cabinetry and counter space, with the dining room door in an awkward position preventing a larger fridge freezer this was the first obvious change. With the needs of a Kosher kitchen also in mind and more oven space required the existing tall storage wall was extended closer to the cook top wall giving the room a more definitive start and finish despite its open plan feel, this in turned allowed us to extend the island giving us more seating, and an extra dishwasher for the kosher lifestyle. The client wanted something classic yet contemporary to reflect their tastes and loved the mixture of paint and wood. Using a horizontal grain Rosewood gave us the feeling of both warmth, glamour and contemporary. Toning it down with a decorators white accent and then breaking the height of the cabinets with the black detail and using this also to take us to the ceiling prevented the over use of the wood. This was then mirrored in the black counter surfaces.
