This well-appointed Bethesda home had an original kitchen that felt dated, heavy and no longer fit the style of the homeowners. The focus of the new kitchen design was to comingle contemporary clean lines with layers of texture, materials, and color. The creamy white wall cabinets with a clean flat door style were brought up to the ceiling which allows your eye to be drawn up to the generous 10’ ceiling height. The showpiece of the main cooking wall is the hot-rolled steel hood, backsplash, and open shelves. The raw industrial feel of the steel is paired with warm materials throughout the rest of the kitchen. The island is wrapped in a waterfall Peruvian Walnut end table. The tall cabinets that house the pantry, refrigeration, and oven are clad in textured leather. The taupe-y leather shimmers from the natural light that floods into the kitchen. Finally, the eat-in kitchen table includes a bench seat allowing for pillows and warm materials to be included in the kitchen.Orange accents in the pendant lights, window treatments, and accessories throughout the space provide a fun pop of color.Beyond the material selection, the kitchen also features bi-folding cabinet doors for countertop appliance storage, a drawer outfitted specifically for water bottle storage as well as cabinet doors hiding a TV and charging station. The bar area includes a built-in coffee machine, wine cooler, and refrigerator drawers. The full height backsplash shows off the beautiful green, grey veining of the Tahiti quartzite stone that is also used on the countertops.
