Bethesda, MD
This kitchen was a full remodeling project. We removed walls to the living room and eat-in area, reconfigured the adjacent laundry room, and added a small hutch nook. The main objective was to open the kitchen to the living room and have outdoor views of the pool.
Kitchen; The client wanted separation from the living room to the kitchen but still wanted it to feel open. We created a 2 tier seating area at the sink to buffer the workings of the kitchen from the seats. A stone quartz parsons table with a waterfall end adds additional coverage to the seating. A soft palate of light blue and white was used to recreate an English Kitchen aesthetic favored by the clients. Handmade tile gives texture to the wall but still feels monochromatic. A simple hood anchors the wall. There is a small overhang at the island to accommodate a few stools but the focus was not on incorporating lots of seating, just to leave the kitchen feeling open.
A matching hutch was designed to house the client’s extensive pottery collection. This is a feature wall. Concrete Quartz countertops are matte in finish which matches the muted tones of the kitchen but adds a little bit of texture to the feel.
