Kitchen

Starting over in a townhouse after her children had all left for college and settled left this empty-nester focused on entertaining. She wanted a fun, open, light-filled space that made seeing friends and family on the back patio or in the front dining room easy from the centrally located kitchen. Gone were the walls that separated the kitchen from the front of the house and in its place was an updated fireplace in a feature wall. This allowed us to house the existing fridge as well and separate the freezer into a pantry section. Alcove walls were added to separate the kitchen into zones. Instead of conventional pantry cabinets a large closet with black mullions and back painted glass was designed to mimic the doors to the outside patio. High ceilings allow for drywall niches with wall-mounted sconces to illuminate at night.
