Kitchen

Galley kitchens are known for their efficiency, allowing easy movement between workstations. However, they can often feel narrow and confined, as was the case with this client's existing dark kitchen. Our goal was to create a more open, inviting space while maintaining the original footprint, using thoughtful design elements and finishes to define different areas within the kitchen.

We began by designing a focal hutch in a soft grey-blue finish, complete with a plank board backsplash, glass-front doors, and detailed hutch ends to complement the colonial-style home. Reducing the hutch's depth by just 3 inches created a visual separation, making it feel like a distinct part of the kitchen rather than a continuous run of cabinetry.

The backsplash features textured white glazed brick tile, uninterrupted by visible outlets thanks to discreet plug mold installed under the wall cabinets. Polished White Delicatus granite countertops follow the contour of the sink and hutch, reflecting natural light from a newly enlarged window over the sink. This transformation resulted in a light and airy kitchen that feels both spacious and functional.
