A walnut stained wood island was making this kitchen feel too traditional and even a bit dated. Expanding the island and adding more storage was an easy call, but what elevates this kitchen is the material selection and fine details. Hot rolled steel cabinetry by Premier Custom Built forms the new island. Floating shelves that flank the range hood are also hot rolled steel and contrast with the new pillowy white subway tile. A thick, mitered white quartz counter top replaces the marble, which was vulnerable to stains. This working counter top welcomes guests with a generous overhang. Designed by Meghan Browne.
