The countertop above the radiator provides a perch for potted herbs or cookbooks. holding the wall cabinets a few inches off the ceiling and adding glass inserts on the door panels lightens the cabinets’ visual bulk. Removing the soffit extends the cabinetry height and a slim space to the right of the range houses a pull-out spice rack and adds a sliver of counter space for cooking utensils.
