Holland Point, MD
The space for this kitchen is a nice large space but the existing design made it feel otherwise. We removed the wall between the laundry room and the kitchen and changed the shape of the powder room from angled to square.
We also got rid of the peninsula which cut off the kitchen and pinched the space for the breakfast table. This squared off the entire space nicely, leaving plenty of room for a nice sized island while incorporating the old laundry room into the working kitchen. On the tall cabinet wall, there was a large square soffit housing a duct that was suspended from the ceiling - quite an eyesore. We cleverly disguised this soffit using the tall cabinets so now is barely visible. The colors of the kitchen were selected to go well with the Chesapeake Bay which is viewed directly out of the kitchen window.
