This spacious kitchen was redesigned to better serve the needs of a busy family, led by an avid cook and food blogger. Despite the kitchen's generous size, it lacked the functionality they required. With a few thoughtful design updates, we transformed the space into an efficient and inviting hub that flows seamlessly with the rest of the home.
One key change involved modifying the layout: by closing a small hallway opening and widening the doorway to the living room, we enhanced the open connection between the kitchen and living space without losing valuable wall space for storage.
A focus on healthy eating guided several decisions, including the installation of a 36" all-refrigerator for fresh produce and separate 30" freezer drawers. To support versatile cooking, we incorporated double ovens and a steam/speed oven for easy steaming.
Design details like custom-carved corbels on the range hood, which extends to the countertop with shelving for oils and spices, add charm. An arabesque patterned backsplash in warm grey-green ties together the White Macaubas Quartzite countertops and the island, pantry, and bar finishes. The seating end of the island features Peruvian walnut, adding a natural warmth to the space.
Finally, the beams added to the cathedral ceiling draw attention upward, creating a striking focal point and enhancing the room’s airy feel.
