Kitchen

After they and their architect were well down the road with plans for an extensive remodeling project, a young couple with a large family engaged us to design the kitchen and butler’s pantry.

The challenge, as with many such projects, was to stay within already established layout, functional and aesthetic constraints, and contribute to the cohesiveness of the entire space.

Working closely with Wiedemann Architects and the client, the designer created a series of distinct but related groupings, each of which addressed specific requirements, juxtaposing them in a way that facilitates two or more cooks working while family and guests traverse the room or hang out to visit.

Proportions and alignments were considered for visual order and flow. The result of careful planning and many meetings is an airy room that feels effortlessly casual, elegant, and efficient.
