Contemporary Bathroom Remodel in Potomac, Maryland

Potomac, Maryland – Contemporary – Bathroom

The original master bath was a builder grade white bathroom with no proper storage, just a couple of base cabinets, a precast shower pan and a tiled deck with a drop in tub. The clients were in need of a more efficient space which not only worked well but aesthetically upgraded to match their impeccable taste. The biggest challenge was to create a space which would speak to them and reflect their elegant standards of living. A place where they could take a relaxing soak, listen to the news or music and just unwind.

We replaced the stall shower with a larger shower area which could accommodate a bench. Added steam, body sprays, stationary shower and hand held giving the homeowner a spa like experience. Replacing the drop-in tub with a beautiful free standing tub added a dramatic focal point. We paired the tub with a free standing tub filler that looks like a sculpture. The two made a stunning statement so we added to their harmonious balance by creating a water fall effect behind the tub with tiles.

As the room lacked natural light we created a drop ceiling with cove lighting. This created the illusion of natural light falling down from a skylight. And to keep the room looking warm and inviting we chose to tile all the walls from floor to ceiling. To get some contrast we used warm grey tiles on the floor.

The counter top is Fusion Blue natural quartzite, which we paired with cabinetry to pick up on the tile colors and tied everything together. To make the room comfortable regardless of the season, we installed heated floors, and even heated the bench seat in the shower. There is a TV screen embedded in the Robern mirror so the client can stay in touch with news while reposing in the tub.
