Contemporary Kitchen with Natural Lighting
The clients had a wonderful open space that wasn’t being leveraged to its full potential. It lacked a focal point, it was outdated with had an angled peninsula that didn’t create a nice flow in the kitchen. The goal was to create a contemporary space that provided a lot of storage, a good amount of prep space, and a flow that would be conducive to entertaining. We achieved the contemporary aesthetic by using high gloss lacquered paint and a slab front door style. We framed the cabinets on the focal wall with wenge panels and we selected a metal tile for the backsplash which contributes to the overall look of the space. By creating two islands, we were able to achieve a nice flow throughout the kitchen and a significant amount of prep space. The first island features a Galley 4 sink with two Galley taps and a 36” range top to ensure there was a clear view of the focal wall behind the first island, a detailed design was created to house a ceiling-mounted hood above the range top.
Other important features that helped set the tone of the space was a two and a half inch wenge wood countertop with waterfall ends, floating shelves in the designated bar area, and custom rollouts for wine storage
