Modern Masterpiece in Gibson Island, MD

The house was built after the original house burned down in a house fire. We had new spaces to work with but although the kitchen is a large space we were limed by multiple doors, windows, and a fireplace. This created limited wall space for necessary elements.  To solve this we designed 2 islands to provide seating and storage, workspace. We designed a Bar/Coffee service room and a Butler’s Pantry.

Kitchen

Two Islands create a storage/work zone and a seating zone

We moved the Freezer to the inside corner of the Butler’s Pantry since most don’t utilize a freezer as often and we needed the tall wall space in the kitchen for the Fridge.  Stainless and Brass metal cabinets create a focal point in the kitchen and the fireplace helps to anchor the space. Walnut floating shelves match the custom wood tops and the wood shelves under the farmhouse sinks. A custom antique zinc hood is the adjacent focal point.

Coffee Bar

Designed to act as a tertiary entertaining space to the living room. This space is set up to make drinks and coffee in the morning and evenings. Antique brick was used to the inside walls to great the appearance of an old sun porch conversion which adds charm.

Butler’s pantry

The butler’s pantry houses the Full Freezer, Ovens, and Pantry storage. This cleared the kitchen to feel airy and open. We designed a custom plate rack on the middle wall to house the client’s vintage plate collection and add visual interest to the kitchen as you look through the doorway. Open vegetable bins were added to hold onion and root vegetables.

Overall the finish on the kitchen is a classic white and walnut with traditional elements like antique zinc and whitewashed brick.
